Director

Jon has 20 years' experience in the distributed energy, heat and energy services sectors, and is a founding director of Delta-ee, Jon has worked extensively with an extensive range of clients across Europe and beyond, supporting and advising them on a wide range of energy transition topics.

Jon has overall responsibility for Delta-ee’s portfolio of research products, covering heat, flexibility and storage, digital energy, distributed power, e-mobility, and local energy systems. He also supports numerous consulting assignments. He is a regular conference presenter on how the energy transition is unfolding, and works closely with Delta-ee’s clients, ranging from incumbent utilities to new entrants, and product manufacturers to investors. Jon hosts ‘Talking New Energy’, the Delta-ee podcast.

Prior to founding Delta-ee, Jon worked for E Source (then owned by Platts) and the UK’s Energy Saving Trust. Jon holds an MSc in Environmental Technology and a BSc in Physics.

Director

Andy’s primary responsibility is the development and commercialisation of Delta-ee’s research services and consulting offerings. He has helped define and develop the Heat Pump Service, the Microgen Insight Service, the Pathways Tool and the Roadmap Service, and played an important role in numerous consulting and multi-client studies spanning these knowledge areas, as well as Energy Services and HEM.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry, predominantly with Wood Mackenzie where he held a number of roles in research, consulting and business development. He has extensive consulting experience, gained from managing market studies, strategy advice and transaction support projects for industrial and financial clients.

Prior to Wood Mackenzie, Andy had roles with Wefa Energy and also BP Oil International, in both the UK and Germany.

Jan is responsible for the planning, implementation and development of Delta-ee’s marketing activities. She supports our analysts and Directors to ensure we maximise opportunities to grow and develop the business. Jan is also responsible for our external communications. 

She has over 16 years’ experience in professional services marketing, holds an MA (Hons) in International Business and Languages from Heriot Watt University and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Andrew Turton

Head of Operations

Andrew has over 10 years' experience in the energy sector and joined Delta-ee in 2016. He is based at Delta-ee's new Cambridge office. Andrew specialises in community and building scale low and zero carbon energy schemes, and has provided advice at both a strategic and policy level to Government, local authorities and national agencies, and on a range of construction projects including the UKs largest Code 5 sustainable housing scheme. Andrew has particular expertise in District Heating and has led a large number of feasibility and design studies, alongside providing strategic advice to the UK Government and the ETI. Other specialisms include building energy modelling and domestic building stock modelling scenario analysis.  

Andrew’s previous role was as Regional Director in AECOM leading a sustainability team, and prior to that with Element Energy. Andrew has a MSci in Applied Physics, and a PhD in microsystems technology from the University of Durham.

Leon Gielen

Head of Business Development - Asia

Leon’s primary responsibility, from his base near the Dutch / German border, is the development and commercialisation of Delta-ee’s research services and consulting offerings in continental Europe, Japan and Asia.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the energy and heating industries, with Dutch utility ENECO and then Enatec Micro Cogen b.v. where he was commercial director and responsible for development, production and global marketing.

He established and managed global partnerships with Bosch, Rinnai, Ariston and Infinia, and was responsible for stakeholder management – for example with banks, governments and licensing authorities in Europe, Asia and US.

Arthur developed and managed the Delta-ee Connected Home Research Service. Currently focused on Customer Data Value and digital product-related business development, he has also managed and delivered a variety of research and consultancy projects on different areas such as microgeneration, market analysis, market forecast, strategy development and customer research.


Arthur holds an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering and a BSc (Hons) of Mechanical Engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

Head of Consultancy

Charmaine lead the consultancy businesses, focusing on business development, and content synergies across the business. Previously a Principal Analyst for Delta-ee’s New Energy Business Model Service, she has over 15 years’ experience in consultancy and energy companies. Her particular experience is with product and service innovation in the renewable energy sector.  Prior to joining Delta in July 2017, she spent 5 years at a small UK supplier, growing product lines and sales channels.

Charmaine holds an Honours degree in Geography from the University of Cambridge and sits on the IET Energy Policy Panel.

Fun Fact: Charmaine loves open water swimming and once swam down the River Thames in spring, alongside other crazy people, an old sofa and a kayaker...

Stephen is Principal Analyst at Delta-ee, directing and managing consulting projects & provides strategic input into the development of the consultancy side of Delta-ee’s business.  He regularly leads consultancy assignments on the future evolution of heat in Europe and the impact this has on gas and electricity network companies & energy suppliers.  Prior to this, Stephen developed and managed Delta-ee's Pathways Tool and Roadmap Service and developed Delta-ee's Microgeneration Insight Service. Stephen has managed a wide range of assignments for major technology manufacturers, utilities and policy makers across Delta-ee’s core areas of expertise.

Stephen joined Delta-ee in 2008 with a strong research and analysis background. He holds an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh.

Jennifer has nearly 10 years’ experience in the Energy Sector and since joining Delta-ee in 2010 she has been instrumental in developing new research service offerings around heat, including developing our internal customer research and building our capability in technology forecasting, strategic support and scenario development. In 2012 she co-authored a ground-breaking report on pathways for domestic heat to 2050 commissioned by the ENA, and she continues to be involved in high profile consulting assignments for our major clients.

Jennifer holds an MSc (distinction) in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh.

Alexander joined Delta Energy & Environment in 2018 to help develop a research service dedicated to the interface between electric vehicles and the energy sector. Alexander is an electric vehicles specialist who has been researching the decarbonisation of transport for over five years.

 

Before joining, Alexander worked at the UK’s Energy Saving Trust delivering a number of projects to support electric vehicle adoption. He has led electric vehicle trials and delivered research on barriers to adoption and charge point network requirements. Alexander holds an MSc in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc (Hons) in Geography with Environmental Management from the University of Exeter.

Jenny leads Delta-ee’s work on ‘new energy’ business models & customer propositions – helping clients navigate the sea of seemingly endless innovations and understanding what works & what doesn’t; what customers are engaging with & why. Previously she was an analyst on Delta-ee’s Roadmap Research Service and Pathways Tool – understanding and forecasting the future of residential heating markets across Europe.

Prior to joining Delta-ee, she worked for Ian Marchant (ex-CEO of SSE) and before that as a researcher and business improvement associate in the recycling and waste management sector.

Jenny holds an MSc (Distinction) in Carbon Management and a BSc (Hons) in Geography, both from the University of Edinburgh.

Principal Analyst / Flexibility Research Service Manager

Philippa leads the development of Delta-ee’s Flexibility Research. She also manages and works on a wide range of consultancy projects, for a variety of clients, on demand response, smart buildings and low carbon heating.

Previously she worked in the Heat Research Team at Delta-ee – managing the Pathways Service and working on the Heat Insight Service, which quantified market disruptions, forecasted the future of residential heating and analysed customer needs and wants.

Philippa holds a PhD in Engineering (specialising in Solar PV), and has a background in science and engineering with a MSc (Hons) in Low Carbon Technologies, and MSc (Hons) in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of Leeds.

Analyst / Energy Storage Research Service Manager

Valentin manages the Energy Storage Research Service and supports Delta-ee in their research activities on low carbon heating technologies and energy storage systems. Prior to joining Delta-ee, Valentin worked as a solar project manager for a French independent power producer and as a hydrogen refuelling station product engineer for Air Liquide.

Valentin holds a French engineering degree from the EPF-Graduate School of Engineering where he specialised in conventional and sustainable energy. He also holds a master of advanced studies in “Energy system optimisation” from MINES ParisTech and the EDHEC Business School.

Analyst / Electrification of Heat Service Manager

Cate joined the Delta-ee team in 2014, and her main research & consultancy focus areas include the Gas Heating Service, Electrification of Heat Service, and UK / European microgeneration market analysis. She currently manages our Electrification of Heat Service. Before joining Delta-ee, Cate worked at the Energy Saving Trust, where she spent 6 years working in domestic energy efficiency and microgeneration, and renewable energy more widely, across the UK and in Scotland. 

Cate brings extensive knowledge of domestic energy use and householder behaviour and is experienced in database management, data analysis, report writing and market analysis. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from the University of St. Andrews.

Steven is Service Manager the Gas Heating Service, leading our research in these fields. He has come to be recognised as an industry expert on the global micro-CHP sector and has played a key role in delivering successful conferences and roundtables on this topic. He is experienced in a range of primary research methodologies; delivering focus groups, detailed on-line surveys and tele-depths on the UK residential heating market, and also established our Smart Energy Customer Panel.

He joined us from Energy Saving Scotland / Changeworks in 2011, where he worked as an Energy Advisor. Steven holds an MSc (Distinction) in Climate Change: Impacts and Mitigation from Heriot-Watt University and an MA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Roxanne is responsible for Delta-ee’s Heat Insight Service, helping clients understand customers and technologies in the UK heating market. She has also provided support on a number of consulting projects. Roxanne is based in our Cambridge Office.

Prior to joining Delta-ee, Roxanne worked as a sustainability consultant in South Africa, where she was involved in projects including life cycle assessments, climate change policy analysis and carbon disclosure reporting.

Roxanne holds an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development (distinction) from the University of Cambridge and a BSc(Eng) in Chemical Engineering (distinction) from the University of Cape Town.

David joined Delta-ee in 2017 and manages the Customer Data Value advisory service, which helps our clients navigate this complex and dynamic area to become more customer-centric.  He is focused on helping energy businesses identify how customer understanding and data can drive positive change and value. David is a specialist in consumer insight and data, and its application to business intelligence, proposition development, customer experience and marketing strategy.

He draws from experience in multiple sectors, including most recently 5 years at Centrica as a consumer insight lead, adding significant value to customer and business alike. David holds an MBA with distinction from the Bradford University School of Management.

Dina supports the management of Delta-ee's Research Services and leads a range of high value consultancy assignments focusing on B2B knowledge areas. She is also the Manager of Delta-ee's Distributed Power Service. Prior to working with Delta-ee, she was a part-time research assistant at the Scottish Rural University College.

Jeremy has more than 30 years’ experience in energy efficiency and distributed energy.

For the past 15 years he was Technical Head in Distributed Energy for E.ON UK PLC, where he was responsible for evaluation, development and commercialisation support of energy conversion technologies, including micro-CHP, heat pumps, solar photovoltaics and energy storage. Most recently he was active in E.ON’s Local Energy System Programme which is undertaking development of microgrids in a number of European countries.

Prior to that he worked for EA Technology, also on distributed energy topics, and spent several years with micro-CHP start-ups in Scandinavia.

Jeremy holds a BSc in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh.

John developed Delta-ee’s Distributed Power Service (DPS), providing global market insight in the fields of gas engines and gas turbines used within stationary power. In addition to the DPS, he leads Delta-ee’s wider Distributed Power research, providing clients with bespoke consultancy and market intelligence. He is also leading Delta-ee’s research in the emerging microgrids sector.

Prior to joining Delta-ee, John spent 4 years with E.ON New Build & Technology during which he worked on developing new-build biomass plants and commercialising innovative community energy solutions including anaerobic digestion, bio-fuels and advanced combustion technologies. 


John holds an MChem in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh.

Lukas is an experienced consultant at Delta-ee. During his more than six years with the company, he worked on and then managed the Delta-ee Heat Pump Research Service.

Building on his expertise in the field of heat pumps and electric heating systems and their role in sector coupling, he now manages strategically important projects for Delta-ee's customers and is also responsible for knowledge management within the company.


Lukas holds an MA in Environmental Policies & Sustainable Development from the Catholic University of Paris, an MA in Political Science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Rennes in France and the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt in Germany.

Lindsay is Principal Analyst at Delta-ee, directing and managing consulting projects, and providing strategic input to Delta-ee’s research services. She is Delta-ee’s knowledge lead in the heat pump research area, and developed and set up the long-running Heat Pump Research Service, which has recently evolved in to the Electrification of Heat Service. She regularly leads research and consultancy assignments for major technology manufacturers, utilities and policy makers across Delta-ee’s core areas of expertise. Based in Denmark, she has a strong focus on knowledge and client management in the Nordic markets.

Lindsay joined Delta-ee in 2007 following a PhD in Geoscience and a MA (1st class hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Matti leads and manages Delta-ee's research in the ‘Connected Home energy’ space providing high quality research to help clients understand the dynamics and opportunities within this market. He works closely with a wide range of international organisations, from small start-ups to some of the world’s largest energy suppliers and heating appliance manufacturers. Matti also provides expert support to bespoke consultancy projects on various low-carbon technologies and markets.

Prior to joining Delta-ee he worked for PwC Finland providing consultancy support on Corporate Social Responsibility reporting and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Matti holds two MSc degrees with Distinctions: one in Economics from the University of Tampere in Finland and one in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Fun fact: The coldest temperature Matti ever cycled to work in was -26C. On the rare occasions it snows in Edinburgh, he enjoys cycling on the empty roads when all the cars and buses stay at home.

Matthew’s primary role is to provide support to a wide range of consulting projects, both in terms of delivery and project management. He has worked across a range of topics but mostly specialises in topics related to domestic heat and electricity, including: heat-pumps, fuels cells, electric heating and biomass heat and energy generation. He is based at Delta Energy & Environment’s Cambridge office.

Matthew holds an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development (distinction) from the University of Cambridge as well as MSc(Eng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. His undergraduate degree was in Chemical Engineering (distinction) also from the University of Cape Town. Matthew is a registered member of the UK Energy Institute.

Laura has been working in the distributed energy sector for four years, providing advice on a wide range of topics, including district heating, energy storage and flexibility, carbon management and renewable energy technologies for clients including central and local government and large utilities companies. She is an experience modeller, with strong expertise in techno-economic analysis, energy systems modelling and business model development.

 

She is based in Delta-ee's head office in Edinburgh, providing support to bespoke consultancy projects. Prior to joining Delta she worked at the Carbon Trust, delivering projects across the Cities and Regions and the Innovation departments. She has a first class MSci in Natural Sciences from Durham University.

Prior to working at Delta-ee, Maria worked as an Energy and Carbon Consultant with Cassiltoun Housing Association in Glasgow.

Maria holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology and Geophysics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she also completed an internship as an Environmental Data Analyst. She also holds an MSc in Global Energy Management from the University of Strathclyde.

Erica’s primary role is to provide support to a wide range of consulting project.  Prior to joining Delta-ee, she worked as a multidisciplinary engineer at the Energy Systems Catapult with a focus on electrification of heating in homes on a number of projects for the Energy Technologies Institute.

Erica holds a PhD in engineering from University of Leeds.  Her thesis explored the topic of domestic energy services, with a specific focus on thermal comfort and how different approaches to domestic heating can reduce carbon emissions.  She also holds an MSc (Hons) in Low Carbon Technology from University of Leeds and an MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from University of Cambridge.

Rita supports the development of Delta-ee’s Flexibility Research. She also provides support for a range of consultancy projects on various low carbon and renewable technologies. Prior to joining Delta-ee she managed for 5 years her restaurant in the Philippines. She also supported the development and the communication strategy of Agroecologie & Solidarite.

 

Rita holds an MSc in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh. Her undergraduate degree was in Law, Economics and Management from the University of Montpellier, where she graduated top of her class. She also holds a degree in History of Art from Charles de Gaulle University of Lille.

Robert is a key deliverer on Delta-ee’s consultancy projects in the future role of energy stakeholders, including transmission and distribution network companies, energy suppliers and oil & gas majors. He has project managed and led the delivery of projects for network companies in the UK and Europe, exploring how the energy transition may impact the underlying infrastructure assets.

Other projects include defining energy service offerings across Europe for a leading energy supplier and exploring strategies for a major European heating manufacturer for tapping into the grid ancillary services market.

Robert holds a MSc in Carbon Finance (distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated top of his class and a BSc in International Business from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria.

Neil focuses primarily on Delta’s New Energy Business Model and Connected Home Services. He joined Delta-ee having spent two years on npower’s graduate scheme where he undertook a range of roles across the business. These included supporting the delivery of energy solutions to npower’s I&C customers, working as a strategy analyst at innogy SE’s headquarters in Germany and assisting with the commercial development of npower’s Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions team.

 

Neil holds an MSc (distinction) in International Development from the University of Edinburgh and an MA (first class honours) in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews.

Rob is an analyst at Delta-ee’s Cambridge office. His primary role is to support the Electrification of Heat and Gas Heating Services in a wide range of research projects. He brings a background in hydrogen production and chemical engineering.

Rob holds a PhD in engineering from University of Leeds. His thesis explored the use of alternative catalyst geometries and chemical looping technology to aid in the reduction of carbon emissions and improve the efficiency of hydrogen production.

He also holds an MSc (Hons) in Low Carbon Technology and an MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering both from the University of Leeds.

Ricardo supports the consulting team at Delta Energy and Environment's head office in Edinburgh. His consulting projects relate to various distributed energy and low carbon technology topics. Prior to joining Delta-ee, Ricardo worked for three years as an I.T. engineer in the aerospace industry in Mexico.

He is currently finishing a PhD in Energy Systems (Engineering) at the University of Edinburgh. His thesis identifies critical components and analyses failure modes using generic defined wave energy converters, sub-assembly block diagrams and reliability diagrams to improve the design of wave energy converters.

Robin joined Delta in 2019 to support the Energy Storage team, delivering research around the impact of storage technologies and business models on European energy markets. He works in close partnership with the Flexibility Service.

Robin will shortly graduate with an Engineering Doctorate in Micro- and Nanomaterials and Technologies from the University of Surrey’s MiNMaT CDT. In his research project he used advanced imaging and modelling techniques to characterise multiphase flow in porous media. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, during which he worked with one of the UK’s leading Demand Response aggregators.

Mikkel Johansen

Mikkel supports a wide range of services, but mainly focuses on connected home services and customer data value. Prior to joining Delta-ee, Mikkel worked with community energy consulting, providing expertise on legislative barriers to entry, for renewable projects.

He also has expertise in measuring how political legislation can impact growth of renewable energy, as well as using social media for pre-emptive analysis of customer behaviour.

Gaomin works as an analyst in Delta-ee’s Cambridge Office. She provides support to a wide range of services, but primarily focuses on Heat Insight Service, helping clients gain better understanding of UK heating market. She also has expertise in new business models of peer-to-peer energy and market flexibility in UK.

Gaomin holds MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge as well as MEng in Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne. She also holds two bachelor’s degrees in engineering from Tongji University in China and Monash University in Australia.

In 2012 she co-authored a ground-breaking report on pathways for domestic heat to 2050 commissioned by the ENA, and she continues to be involved in high profile consulting assignments for our major clients.

Andrew has over 10 years' experience in the energy sector and joined Delta-ee in 2016. He is based at Delta-ee's new Cambridge office. Andrew specialises in community and building scale low and zero carbon energy schemes, and has provided advice at both a strategic and policy level to Government, local authorities and national agencies, and on a range of construction projects including the UKs largest Code 5 sustainable housing scheme. Andrew has particular expertise in District Heating and has led a large number of feasibility and design studies, alongside providing strategic advice to the UK Government and the ETI. Other specialisms include building energy modelling and domestic building stock modelling scenario analysis.  

Andrew’s previous role was as Regional Director in AECOM leading a sustainability team, and prior to that with Element Energy. Andrew has a MSci in Applied Physics, and a PhD in microsystems technology from the University of Durham.

Jeremy has more than 30 years’ experience in energy efficiency and distributed energy.

For the past 15 years he was Technical Head in Distributed Energy for E.ON UK PLC, where he was responsible for evaluation, development and commercialisation support of energy conversion technologies, including micro-CHP, heat pumps, solar photovoltaics and energy storage. Most recently he was active in E.ON’s Local Energy System Programme which is undertaking development of microgrids in a number of European countries.

Prior to that he worked for EA Technology, also on distributed energy topics, and spent several years with micro-CHP start-ups in Scandinavia.

She is Delta-ee’s knowledge lead in the heat pump research area, and developed and set up the long-running Heat Pump Research Service, which has recently evolved in to the Electrification of Heat Service. She regularly leads research and consultancy assignments for major technology manufacturers, utilities and policy makers across Delta-ee’s core areas of expertise. Based in Denmark, she has a strong focus on knowledge and client management in the Nordic markets.

Lindsay joined Delta-ee in 2007 following a PhD in Geoscience and a MA (1st class hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Matti holds two MSc degrees with Distinctions: one in Economics from the University of Tampere in Finland and one in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Jennifer has nearly 10 years’ experience in the Energy Sector and since joining Delta-ee in 2010 she has been instrumental in developing new research service offerings around heat, including developing our internal customer research and building our capability in technology forecasting, strategic support and scenario development. In 2012 she co-authored a ground-breaking report on pathways for domestic heat to 2050 commissioned by the ENA, and she continues to be involved in high profile consulting assignments for our major clients.

Lukas is an experienced consultant at Delta-ee. During his more than six years with the company, he worked on and then managed the Delta-ee Heat Pump Research Service. Building on his expertise in the field of heat pumps and electric heating systems and their role in sector coupling, he now manages strategically important projects for Delta-ee's customers and is also responsible for knowledge management within the company.

Lindsay is Principal Analyst at Delta-ee, directing and managing consulting projects, and providing strategic input to Delta-ee’s research services. She is Delta-ee’s knowledge lead in the heat pump research area, and developed and set up the long-running Heat Pump Research Service, which has recently evolved in to the Electrification of Heat Service. She regularly leads research and consultancy assignments for major technology manufacturers, utilities and policy makers across Delta-ee’s core areas of expertise. Based in Denmark, she has a strong focus on knowledge and client management in the Nordic markets.

Lindsay joined Delta-ee in 2007 following a PhD in Geoscience and a MA (1st class hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Jeremy has more than 30 years’ experience in energy efficiency and distributed energy.

For the past 15 years he was Technical Head in Distributed Energy for E.ON UK PLC, where he was responsible for evaluation, development and commercialisation support of energy conversion technologies, including micro-CHP, heat pumps, solar photovoltaics and energy storage. Most recently he was active in E.ON’s Local Energy System Programme which is undertaking development of microgrids in a number of European countries.

Prior to that he worked for EA Technology, also on distributed energy topics, and spent several years with micro-CHP start-ups in Scandinavia.

Matthew’s primary role is to provide support to a wide range of consulting projects, both in terms of delivery and project management. In addition to consultancy work, Matthew has contributed significantly to Delta’s microgrids research. He is based at Delta Energy & Environment’s Cambridge office.

Matthew holds an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development (distinction) from the University of Cambridge as well as MSc(Eng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. His undergraduate degree was in Chemical Engineering (distinction) also from the University of Cape Town. Matthew is a registered member of the UK Energy Institute.

Rob is an analyst at Delta-ee’s Cambridge office. His primary role is to support the Electrification of Heat and Gas Heating Services in a wide range of research projects. He brings a background in hydrogen production and chemical engineering.

Rob holds a PhD in engineering from University of Leeds. His thesis explored the use of alternative catalyst geometries and chemical looping technology to aid in the reduction of carbon emissions and improve the efficiency of hydrogen production.

Robin joined Delta in 2019 to support the Energy Storage team, delivering research around the impact of storage technologies and business models on European energy markets. He works in close partnership with the Flexibility Service.

Robin will shortly graduate with an Engineering Doctorate in Micro- and Nanomaterials and Technologies from the University of Surrey’s MiNMaT CDT. In his research project he used advanced imaging and modelling techniques to characterise multiphase flow in porous media. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, during which he worked with one of the UK’s leading Demand Response aggregators.

He led a broad range of engineering & IS programmes and projects, including technologies & systems as varied as a Virtual Power Plant application solution, micro-CHP, anaerobic digestion, heat pumps, solar PV and smart energy clients for homes and businesses. The programmes followed an end-to-end development cycle including everything from strategy development, technology selection, development & trialling, consortium build & contract negotiation, logistics, supply chain and roll-out planning (including at times post-live support of real customers). Since leaving E.ON, Nigel has remained in the energy sector working on a wide range of consultancy and research projects.

Before joining, Alexander worked at the UK’s Energy Saving Trust delivering a number of projects to support electric vehicle adoption. He has led electric vehicle trials and delivered research on barriers to adoption and charge point network requirements.

Andrew has over 10 years' experience in the energy sector and joined Delta-ee in 2016. He is based at Delta-ee's new Cambridge office. Andrew specialises in community and building scale low and zero carbon energy schemes, and has provided advice at both a strategic and policy level to Government, local authorities and national agencies, and on a range of construction projects including the UKs largest Code 5 sustainable housing scheme. Andrew has particular expertise in District Heating and has led a large number of feasibility and design studies, alongside providing strategic advice to the UK Government and the ETI. Other specialisms include building energy modelling and domestic building stock modelling scenario analysis.  

Andrew’s previous role was as Regional Director in AECOM leading a sustainability team, and prior to that with Element Energy. Andrew has a MSci in Applied Physics, and a PhD in microsystems technology from the University of Durham.

He is a regular conference presenter on how the energy transition is unfolding, and works closely with Delta-ee’s clients, ranging from incumbent utilities to new entrants, and product manufacturers to investors. In January 2016, Dave formed his own limited company, Millhouse Power Limited, offering consultancy services to the electricity industry, specialising in smart grids, asset management, strategy and innovation. Prior to that, Dave was a member of UK Power Networks’ senior management team holding the position of Senior Advisor and previously Head of Future Networks. He has served in the industry since 1966, beginning his career with East Midlands Electricity Board before moving to Eastern Electricity in 1973. Since then he has served with TXU Europe Distribution, 24 Seven Utility Services Ltd, EDF Energy and UK Power Networks. His career has involved roles in operational, planning, regulation, asset management and research & development. Dave serves on a number of industry forums and working groups including the Smart Grid Forum, the IET Energy Policy Panel, and the Energy Systems Catapult Interim Advisory Group. With 16 years' experience in the energy industry, she headed up the Electric Vehicles Team at EDF Energy for 4 years. In this role, Kate was involved in a range of ground-breaking projects including the delivery of home recharging infrastructure for TSB trials with Toyota and Mercedes, and support for the development of recharging infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympics BMW EV Fleet. She also was behind the launch of EcoRecharge the first UK retail domestic home charging proposition. More recently, Kate was the Projects and Strategy Director for Route Monkey, an SME that specialises in the optimisation of the EVs and the challenge of fleet electrification. Her role involved the scoping and delivery of multiple innovative Smart City, Mobility and Electric Vehicles Projects. Kate is a Chartered Institute of Marketing professional with over 25 years' experience, in partnerships and new proposition development.

Yasushi (Yaz) worked for 40 years for Osaka Gas, Japan’s second largest gas company. His last position was as General Manager of their Research Institute for Culture, Energy and Life. Yaz has also served as General Manager of their International Business Department and their London Office.

Based in Nara, Japan, Yaz works as a part-time associate with Delta-ee, and has excellent contacts in and relationships with Japanese gas and electric companies, as well as the wider energy industry.

He was a Visiting Professor at Kwansei Gakuin University until 2015, and has translated several energy publications into Japanese, including “Small is Profitable” and "Reinventing Fire" authored by Dr Amory B. Lovins of the Rocky Mountain Institute.

Vince has been an investor in small businesses for 25 years and has run private equity activities for an investment company since 1992. Investments have included a number of market leading businesses such as Acis, a provider of intelligent transport systems, Antenna Audio, the world leader in audio and audio-visual interpretation.

He co-founded Iceni Capital in 2005 raising funds from several investors. Recent investments at Iceni include Mentor, a provider of engineers to the oil industry which was sold to Vinci Energies in December 2013, Zero C, a sustainable house builder,  and Ito World, an internet mapping business.

He holds a business degree, qualified as a chartered accountant and worked at Price Waterhouse in business advisory and corporate finance.

Ian Marchant was Chief Executive of SSE plc, a leading UK energy utility company, for over 10 years until stepping down in the summer of 2013. Ian is also a former Chairman of Scotland's 2020 Climate Delivery Group, the immediate past President of Energy Institute, former NED of Cyberhawk and former Chairman of the renewable energy firm, Infinis.

Ian is currently Chairman of Thames Water Plc and the Aberdeen based quoted energy services firm, John Wood Group, as well as non-executive Chairman of the Edinburgh based tidal energy company, Nova Innovation Ltd. He is also a non-executive Director of Aggreko plc, and through his company, Dunelm Energy, is advisor to Scottish Equity partners and a number of energy related companies such as Linknode.

He is Chair of the Advisory Board for the Centre of Energy Policy at Strathclyde University, a visiting Professor with the business schools at Edinburgh and Durham universities, as well as being a member of the Prince's Council of the Duchy of Cornwall and the President of the RZSS.
