As various types of local energy systems (LES) are emerging it is becoming increasingly important to understand the regulatory and policy environment in which they will operate. Although many of these instruments are well defined and relate to distributed generation and new energy in general, there are some measures aimed at providing a framework specifically for local energy systems.
This database will provide an overview of the key regulations and policies that are expected to impact the development of LES. It includes both a high level overview of European policies and regulations as well as those specific to individual European markets. It will be periodically updated to reflect the changing landscape of the LES market and extended to additional national markets in due course.
