Michael has worked in the CHP and decentralised energy sectors since 1992, representing industry groups in these areas at UK, European and international levels, and providing consulting services to private and public sector clients since 1998.  Up to 2006, he served as the founding Executive Director of the World Alliance for Decentralized Energy (WADE).  He was also the founding Executive Director of COGEN Europe and, before this, the Assistant Director of the UK CHP Association. Michael leads Delta’s work on markets for CHP (from 10 kWe to multi MWe systems).

Jon has thirteen years experience in the decentralised energy and low carbon sectors. A founding director of Delta, he leads Delta’s work with utilities, helping them develop decentralised energy and low carbon strategies and tactics. Jon’s expertise spans the decentralised energy space, with a particular interest in microgeneration, low carbon strategies and the integration of decentralised resources into energy systems. Previously Jon worked for Platts, managing E Source’s distributed energy research, and the UK’s Energy Saving Trust.

Andy’s primary responsibility is the ongoing development of Delta’s research services and consulting offerings.  He established Delta’s annual ‘Energy Services in Europe’ Summit and leads Delta’s activities in this knowledge area.  He has over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry, predominantly with Wood Mackenzie where he held a number of roles in research, consulting and business development.  He has extensive consulting experience, gained from managing market studies, strategy advice and transaction support projects for industrial and financial clients.  Prior to Wood Mackenzie, Andy had roles with Wefa Energy and also BP Oil International, in both the UK and Germany.

Lindsay developed and manages Delta’s Air Source Heat Pump Innovation Monitor Service, and leads Delta’s heat pump research.  She is responsible for tracking heat pump technology and market developments across Europe, and maintaining the online subscriber resources.  Her specialist research areas include heat pumps, small wind turbines and utility low carbon strategies, and has project managed, researched and delivered many bespoke consultancy assignments in these areas. She also led Delta’s Utility Low Carbon Strategies multi-client study, carried out alongside Accenture in 2010.  Lindsay joined Delta in 2007 with a strong research and analysis background, following a PhD and First Class honours degree in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Scott is an Analyst and Product Manager of Delta’s subscriber-based Micro-CHP Service. He is responsible for delivering in-depth research reports,  tracking and analysing industry news, maintaining Delta’s online micro-cogeneration resource, and providing support for its market inquiry service. Scott is responsible for researching and delivering the industry’s most respected and long running annual market roundup and forecast on micro-CHP. He also organises an annual summit for industry major players on micro-cogeneration in Europe. In addition, Scott also contributes to the delivery of Delta’s bespoke and multi-client assignments in the field of European micro and mini-cogeneration policies & markets. Scott spent 6 years working as a consultant in the building industry, with roles in the UK and Ireland. Scott has a PhD in Energy Studies and is a Member of the Institute of Energy.

Stephen leads Delta’s research and service development in the field of smart home energy management systems and plays a key supporting role in the delivery of Delta’s Micro-CHP Service.  He also leads Delta’s research and service development on electric vehicle charging infrastructure.  In addition to this, he project manages, researches and delivers consultancy assignments for Delta clients in the fuel cell micro-CHP, small-scale CHP, PV and heat pump sectors. Stephen joined Delta in June 2008 after completing an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and a BSc in Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.

Jennifer Arran co-developed Delta’s Air Source Heat Pump innovation monitor service where she is responsible for providing insights on key European heat pump markets.  With a strong knowledge of research techniques, Jennifer has delivered on a number of different research and consulting assignments across the range of decentralised technologies such as UK market growth potential for the solar PV & ASHP technologies and an analysis of the role of CHP technology in EU 2050 power generation. Prior to joining Delta in June 2010, Jennifer was a business development assistant at IPA, an Edinburgh based energy consultancy. Jennifer has an MSc (Distinction) in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh.

Karen has worked on various decentralised energy consultancy projects at Delta, for clients including E.On and GE Energy. Prior to joining us in October 2011, Karen worked as an Energy Advisor for the Energy Saving Trust, where she advised members of the public on energy efficiency, microgeneration and the associated government funding and initiatives. Karen was awarded an MSc in Ecological Economics with distinction by the University of Edinburgh, and is an Associate Member of the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment.



Yaz Santo Return to the top of the page.YASUSHI SANTO - Associate (ex-Osaka Gas)

Yasushi (Yaz) worked for 40 years for Osaka Gas, Japan’s second largest gas company. His last position was as General Manager of their Research Institute for Culture, Energy and Life. Yaz has also served as General Manager of their International Business Department and their London Office.

Based in Nara, Japan, Yaz works as a part-time associate with Delta, and has excellent contacts in and relationships with Japanese gas and electric companies, as well as the wider energy industry. He is also Visiting Professor at Kwansei Gakuin University and has translated several energy publications into Japanese, including “Small is Profitable”.



David Sigsworth Return to the top of the page.DAVID SIGSWORTH - Associate (formerly Director ex-Scottish & Southern Energy )

David is an Associate of Delta, and has a wealth of experience in the UK energy industry, having been appointed as Commercial Director of Scottish Hydro Electric plc in January 1995 and subsequently holding several positions on the board of Scottish and Southern Energy plc (SSE). During the latter part of his career, he had responsibility for all of SSE’s environmental issues and managed one of the largest and most diverse generation fleets in the UK with over 10,000 MW of plant. He was also responsible for a £1bn programme of investments in renewable generation technologies.

David is now active in promoting high technology start-up companies, involved in the renewable and sustainable energy markets, and holds several associated non-executive directorships. He is also Chairman of Sigma Capital Group plc, Vice President of the Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA), a board member of Energy Action Scotland, a member of the Advisory Board NaREC (New and Renewable Energy Centre), as well as a trustee of the think tank, Sustainability First.
